Wagga Wagga is a city in New South Wales, Australia. With an urban population of 46,913 people, Wagga Wagga is the state's largest inland city, and is an important agricultural, military, and transport hub of Australia. It is midway between the two largest cities in Australia, Sydney and Melbourne, and is the major regional center for the Riverina and South West Slopes regions.

Wagga Wagga is located between Sydney and Melbourne, which are the biggest cities of Australia. Such special location enables the city to become a logistics center and transportation hub in the southeastern part of Australia. Wagga Wagga boasts convenient transportation, with flights to Sydney and Melbourne every day and four trains serving national routes. In addition, there many buses running to all directions of Australia. The main roads are connected with two thirds of the national markets, ports and international air ports so that these places can be arrived at within five hours. Therefore, many big companies, especially those engaged in transportation, banking and accounting, have set offices in Wagga Wagga to provide services for clients in Sydney and Melbourne.

Wagga Wagga has a great variety of beautiful gardens and tree-lined streets so that it is honored the “Southern Garden City”. The city has a botanic garden covering 8.9 hectares, with drought-resistant plants imported from Africa and Americans, Chinese-style tea garden, birds’ home and zoo. Small train is available for sightseeing in the garden. The Lake Albert is an artificial lake covering 125 hectares, with boating, water skiing and fishing services. In addition, the numerous natural reservoirs at the river banks are also good places to visit. Wagga Wagga has well developed tourism, with integrated facilities including hotels, suburban campsites, motor hotels and service apartments. This enables Wagga Wagga to become a good choice for holding high-grade conferences.

European exploration of the future site of Wagga Wagga began in 1829 with the arrival of Captain Charles Sturt during his expedition along the Murrumbidgee River.

In 1870, Wagga Wagga was incorporated as a municipality and George Forsyth was chosen as the first Mayor of Wagga Wagga. After the World War I, Wagga Wagga grew steadily and was proclaimed a city on 17 April 1946.

Concerning cultural development, a regional cultural base, which is called the “inland cultural oasis”, has been set up in Wagga Wagga. The Wagga Wagga Art Gallery is famous for glass art works and prints. In addition, there are always high-grade performances at the Riverina Music Center and the Riverina Theater.
